John's Survial Story

On Tuesday, November 7th the world was, without exaggeration, seconds away from losing a great man to all who have met him - John Roisland.

John nearly lost his life as a result of blood clots to the lungs and heart. He suffered cardiac arrest,  pulmonary embolisms, and the beginning of kidney failure stemming from  blood clots in his leg while recovering from a knee injury at home. With nothing short of miraculous timing, John's wife, Stephanie found him unresponsive outside on their back porch and called 911. First responders took life saving measures immediately and initially he was taken to Easton Medical Center, but when his condition was determined to be beyond their scope of their care, they stabilized him and he was airlifted to Shock Trauma at UMMC  where the best-of-the-best literally saved his life. After he was stabilized at Shock Trauma, John fought for his life day after day for the next week in MICU with gradual improvements every day - testaments to his strength and will to live. Defying odds, John's conditioned stabilized enough for him to return home to begin the long journey of recovery and rehabilitation.

This has left John unable to work, and Stephanie taking on the role of full-time caretaker. We are hoping for no long term issues, but this could in fact leave John's heart and/or lungs permanently damaged! Only time and healing will tell. John is currently on disability from his 9-5 job, however the pay is barely enough to take care of his family's basic living expenses. He is also unable to work his 2nd job during nights and weekends, losing 100% of that income as well. One of the most painful impacts - financially and emotionally - is that John is unable to work his seasonal job, the one we all look forward to every year, and a true joy and passion for him - being Santa during the holiday season. Santa has sadly had to cancel all appearances that were booked prior to his medical emergency - resulting in 100% loss of income for his family and 100% loss for the all the people looking forward to a well deserved visit from the big man himself.

John, Stephanie and their family thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any amount of support you could offer for medication, medical treatments, and household bills and to perhaps allow Santa to provide his family with a little something under their tree this year. Any and all support is appreciated including boosting the post on social media. Let's help make Santa's year, just like he has for so many of us every holiday season.

We have decided not to use the popular way of online fundrasing, like gofundme or some other online donation site - Please use the Venmo and PayPal links above to ensure your gracious donation gets to John without delay or any part of your donation being sent to the hosting site.

Our goal is $10,000 to get ahead of household bills, pay for life saving medications, gas for back and forth trips to Baltimore from the Eastern Shore for John's follow up appointments and basic living expenses.
